Extreme NXT: Extending the LEGO MIDSTORMS NXT for the Next Level is made for intermediate-level users of NXT who does like to advance their capabilities by learning some of the basics of electronics. Plenty of examples are provided, and easy-to-follow instructions are included for building over 15 different sensors. This makes a fantastic reference for your NXT hardware interfaces. Examples even come complete with multiple, alternative NXT languages. The book can be abundant with illustrations.
Michael Gasperi may be an expert in LEGO Mindstorms sensors since it had been
first introduced in 1998. His popular website and chapters in the "Extreme
Mindstorms" book have guided people with the procedure for building their
own extensions for the kit.
Philippe Hurbain got his first Mindstorms kit in 2000, and very quickly his
electronics background pushed him to create new and original sensors to the
RCX. His website shows the way to build these sensors, at exactly the same time as a lot of
technical information on the original Mindstorms kit. In 2006 he was
selected as being a beta-tester for the new NXT which he received many months
before official release.
Isabelle Hurbain is Philippe's daughter, she's an engineer specialized in
Automatic Control and is currently finishing her PhD. in Computer Science.
She also contributed a number of books (as a translator so when a writer).
